同济大学设计创意学院与星巴克咖啡在可持续发展和设计上一直保持着良好的合作关系。学院亦担当起横向联系咖啡产业生态链中对可持续发展和可持续设计有着远见和技术能力的企业的桥梁，旨在以提供交流创新的平台为促进可持续发展，寻求可持续设计解决方案，推动新材料、新技术、新应用场景为降低碳足迹，改善与人和谐共存的环境。

同济大学设计创意学院联合科思创（上海）投资有限公司，针对回收咖啡渣板材料进行应用设计。通过设计师对材料的学习了解，感知感悟，为这一具有环保属性的新材料提出在产品应用中设计可能性。

为此，同济大学设计创意学院在科思创（上海）投资有限公司的支持下，于2021年11月10日举办了「咖啡渣循环再生板」设计工作坊。在一天的时间内，受邀设计团队和设计师们以设计思维引导，发挥设计创意学院工坊CNC等快速成型方法，辅助以创意工坊经验丰富的技师们和学生助管们的团队合作，设计团队完成了从构思到模型制作的创意。

College of Design and Innovation has kept positive relationship with Starbucks Coffee in sustainable development and Design. School also take the lead in built a bridge connect companies and designers with visual and skills, to provide a platform for exchange and collaboration on new material, new technology in the application of emerging scenarios, in the target of lower the carbon footage and ameliorate the co-exiting human and environment.

D&I joined Covestro Investment（China）Co.,Ltd to host a design workshop based on recycles coffee ground panel, the goal is to study the properties and application opportunities of this new material based on recycled coffee ground, and how to contribute to the sustainability.

For this conceptual and fast modeling workshop, D&I provided numerical manufacturing in the innovation field and our experienced technicians and student assistants. On the Nov.10th, a group of design companies and designers have participant in the workshop and realize the design from concept to modeling.

本次展览的内容即「咖啡渣循环再生板」设计工作坊成果，包含小模型和首版样品。首先向参与本次设计活动的设计团队和设计师们致以衷心感谢！

震旦创新中心：赵金松，史然，胡晓林

震旦创新中心设计的咖啡树灵感来自咖啡原产地自然景观，高大的热带灌木、起伏的山林…… 通过回溯咖啡生长、收获、制成、享用、回收的旅程，以唤醒人们的自然意识。

提供两种高度的桌面，支持坐姿、站姿的交流方式。主桌面为坐姿使用，采用咖啡豆的造型，自然流畅的弧线形成可供不同人数使用的桌面区域，并提供桌面电源支持用户的用电设备。副桌面为站姿使用，放飞思维，畅意表达。

Aurora  Coffee Tree

The coffee tree designed by Aurora Innovation Center is inspired by the natural landscape of coffee gardens, tall tropical shrubs, undulating mountain forests... By tracing back the journey of coffee growing, harvesting, making, enjoying, and recycling, to awaken people's natural consciousness.

Two height desktops are provided to support sitting and standing communication methods. 

The main desktop is used in a sitting posture, with the shape of coffee beans. The natural and smooth arc forms a desktop area that can be used by different groups, and provides desktop power to support the user's electrical equipment. The sub-desktop is used in a standing posture to think and express freely.

震旦创新中心：创立于2005年，下设创新发展部和品牌推广部。设计商品荣获国内外奖项90多项， 包含Red Dot、IF、IDEA、CEID、红星、DIA、台湾金点等奖项。我们秉持设计的原创性，累计获得超过300多项专利。多项产品设计案例入选联合国教科文组织《上海设计印象集》。

Aurora Innovation Center：The Aurora Innovation Center was founded in 2005 and consists of Innovation Department and Brand Promotion Department. Our design had won more than 90 domestic and foreign design awards, including Red Dot, IF, IDEA, CEID, Red Star, DIA, Taiwan Golden Pin and other awards. We uphold the originality of design and had obtained more than 300 patents. Many cases had been selected into the UNESCO "Shanghai Design Impressions".

咖啡云托盘

同济大学设计创意学院 材料应用与创新实验室

咖啡杯，餐盘，蛋糕……咖啡桌和咖啡店里总是充满了圆形的东西，为什么我们的托盘不是圆的？因为托盘要上要放很多的圆！咖啡云托盘为一餐丰富的下午茶准备。

深色的循环咖啡渣板中含有较高的回收咖啡渣，淡淡的咖啡香时时为咖啡时间代言。

Café Could Plate

D&I Material Application and Design LAB (MA&D)

Taken from the many round shape on the coffee table and in the coffee shop, the cloud shape meant to hold more than one coffee mug or dessert plate.

The darker recycle coffee ground fiber sheet contains higher coffee ground, the distant aroma becomes the hint for having a good café time.

随着现代物流的快速发展，板式家具在运输方面正在展现它的优势，同时传统的榫卯连接方式在板材家具连接方面的作用正在凸显。「三 角 o 屏」运用中式三交枨的插接结构，增加结构稳定性，并以板材插接构架出多变的置物空间。榫卯连接透出的理念与当今时代强调的环保、可持续发展理念惊人的一致，如今在家具方面借鉴古人的榫卯方式无疑是符合时代主旋律的。

经过对结构的了解，将结构拉伸并与板材形态相结合，产生了三交枨结构在板材上的应用结构。将结构纵向拉伸，在一块板上继续增加结构的数目，而且将上、中、下三个结构尽量均衡分布，使得每一块板都能从至少两个方向被固定住，那么将整个家具安装好以后，结构将会变的十分稳固。如此则整个家具的形态就有无限种可能性，对于家具的整体造型来讲，也是十分有利的。

另外从整个设计全局的角度出发，设计者对于板材使用以及加工过程都有所考虑，在对板材的使用方面，尽量避免板材的浪费，使得整个置物架所用板材只需消耗四块标准板材而几乎没有浪费，提高了板材的利用率。

Triangle-interlock Shelf

Designed by Ms.YAN Qun with the guidance by prof. MO Jiao, the design of this tri-lock shelf is based on interlock system but using one of the Chinese traditional wood joints “sunmao” （榫卯）structure. The triangle form gives stable structure and also unexpected form.

我们对咖啡渣板进行了性能分析：

1.   适合作为面板

2.   有吸音性

3.   作为表面材料有独特美感

所以我们想，咖啡渣板是一款适合做音响的面板材料。

但如果音响全身都用咖啡渣板的话，一是视觉上有些许无聊，二是造型限制会比较大，生产工艺上也缺少优势，那么就需要另一种，有趣的、能一体成型的、造型方便的材料来做音响箱体——PCL，一种可降解的塑料。将咖啡渣与PCL相融合，再经过加温、倒入模具、冷却后，得到了另一种具有特殊肌理的环保材料。（经过试验，加入10%咖啡渣得到的材料是我们最喜欢的，它细看像燕麦饼干，具有食物的质感。）

PORTABLE MP3 SPEAKER & COFFEE GROUNDS

coffee grounds board performance analysis：

We decided to use it’s performance advantages to make a product like speaker:

· Suitable as a faceplate

· The surface texture has a unique aesthetic

· Sound absorption

The coffee grounds board is very suitable for speaker board!

But we need another material for the speaker housing:

· Simplified geometry

· Interesting texture juxtaposition

· Material differentiation between front/back

· panels and the side panels

After a series of experiments, we found one biodegradable polyester: PCL (polycaprolactone). 

It can fully biodegradable, process easily, and get along well with coffee grounds. As the difference of coffee grounds mixed in, the surface appears different texture. When the percentage of coffee  grounds mixed in ＜10%, it has the texture of oatmeal cookies. We love it.

So, what does a portable speaker consist of:

Coffee grounds, Covestro panels, PCL compostable plastics

+ 背景/background

在关于咖啡的纪录片《黑咖啡》的开头，人们断言“除了石油之外，咖啡是地球上最有价值的合法商品。” 咖啡渣则是咖啡生命的延续与再生。

At the beginning of the documentary “Black Coffee”, people asserted that “other than oil, coffee is the most valuable legal commodity on earth.” Coffee grounds are the continuation and regeneration of coffee life.

喝咖啡在现在已然成为很多人每日的习惯，但你知道每天有多少咖啡渣被浪费吗？据国际咖啡组织（International Coffee Organization）的统计，全球每天售出逾20亿杯咖啡，而日均产的咖啡残渣达4万余吨。

咖啡渣中拥有许多我们可以利用的资源：咖啡渣里含有氮化物1.4% ~1.56%、磷化物含量为 2.6%~3.7%、钾素含量为 0.32%~0.37%（占干物质），和有机化肥的所含成分相似，所以很多人把安全无污染的咖啡渣当作有机化肥运用在很多植物的栽培中。咖啡渣的多孔结构与特性使得其拥有吸附杂物、除味、抗菌的功能；导热、保温、吸水性也在服装、建筑、建材领域发光发热；甚至可用于美容养颜。

Drinking coffee has become a daily habit for many people, but do you know how much coffee grounds are wasted every day? According to the International Coffee Organization (International Coffee Organization), more than 2 billion cups of coffee are sold every day in the world, and the average daily production of coffee residues is more than 40,000 tons.

In fact, coffee grounds have many resources that we can use: the coffee grounds contain 1.4% ~ 1.56% of nitrogen compounds, 2.6% ~ 3.7% of phosphides, and 0.32% ~ 0.37% of potassium (accounting for dry matter). The ingredients are similar to organic fertilizers, so many people use safe and non-polluting coffee grounds as organic fertilizers in the cultivation of many plants.The porous structure and characteristics of coffee grounds make it have the functions of adsorbing impurities, deodorizing, and antibacterial; its heat conduction, heat preservation, and water absorption are also very useful in the fields of clothing, construction, and building materials; it can even be used in the beauty industry.
